hazard Posted July 14, 2010 Share Posted July 14, 2010 i have a hen with 2 3 day old chicks and 2 eggs waiting to hatch the hen has been pecking at her feet/toes and they are all bleeding i have cleaned her feed with warm salt water then rinsed them in clean warm water what else can i do for her i have just bought anti bacterial powder for chickens on ebay but thats not going to get here for a few days and advice will be gratefully received Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jellykelly Posted July 14, 2010 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Could it be scaly leg? Are the scales slightly raised? You could try smothering the legs in vaseline. If the problem is scaly leg the vaseline will cover the legs and smother the mite, killing it off (it will need to be repeated daily for a few days).
