jennja73
HI, I posted a few days ago worried about one of my hens. She had a very dirty vent and was pulling her own feather out. Since then I have been giving her yoghurt mash and putting yoghurt directly onto her bottom area. I suspected dhe had vent gleet, or a similar yeat infection. Since, she has been a little better, not pecking at herself as much. She however has become very unsteady on her feet, finds it hard to walk and spends much time constantly sitting down. Any suggestions? Do you think they are related? I know ear infections and mareks cause wobbliness... I am going to try and find a poultry vet to take her to, tomorrow, but in the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions? thanks!
Patricia W
I think I'd just bring her in and keep an eye on her. I hope you find a vet tomorrow - where are you? Maybe someone can recommend one Tricia
Olly
I agree - bring her in, and keep her in a cat-carrier or a cardboard box or something similar, it will relieve the pressure on her to keep up appearances in front of the other hens, and a bit of peace and quiet will do no harm. Afraid it sounds like a visit to the vet, not much else you can do other than keep her hydrated.
