New hens not going into Eglu Go Up

Last year i hatched loads of CP Quails using a D.I.Y incubator, there was no water in the incubator for the first fourteen days and then water for the rest. Now this year i used everything the same but with Blue Scale and California Quail eggs and no success, they will now hatch! They are fully developed in the egg but can't get out when need to hatch. Broke top of egg and looked inside and the chick was still breathing, but there was two membrains, one very thick around it and a thin one, any ideas please?

Californian Quail take 23 days to hatch ...

 

You should have upped the humidity on day 20 (rather than 14), and then hopefully they will have hatched.

Cracking them open and them still alive looks like they were developing well, just need extra time. They do have a membrane inside, its important to not try + help them to hatch as the membranes are full of blood vessels and if you hit one of those they will bleed to death.

 

Maybe get a book and compare the different breed requirements

thanks for ur reply i think i know what the problem was, the incubator was to near the sun shining thruogh the window. i did up the humidity at day 20 thanks for ur advise well appresiated.
