beverley
hi does anyone know of a vet that will treat chickens in stevenage area, one of mine is really not well, she hasn't eaten a thing, for the last couple of days, so i cant't worm her, she won't even eat grapes, which she would normally kill for. im really worried, she is completely silent, and just stands there, i couldn't get her out of eglu yesterday. she eventually follwed my other girl out of run this evening, but doesn't seem to know what to do with herself, she is drinking a little water, and she also has laid about 3 soft eggs in a row. im also worried about taking her to a vet, incase the stress of putting her in a box could do more harm, she doesn't like being picked up at the best of times. i know it seems silly but she seems really depressed. her comb is very red, is that good or bad? how long can she go with out food? sorry to ramble, just don't know what to do. thanks olive
Ain't Nobody Here
Sorry to hear about your poorly girl . Sometimes softies can make them feel miserable so perhaps once she lays a hard egg she might perk up. A red comb is a good sign . Here's a list of forum recommended vets. viewtopic.php?f=41&t=4447
louise1976
When one of my girls was poorly I took her to Walton lodge vets in Stevenage, although they don't see many chickens ( in fact my girl was the first they had seen ) they were very helpful and had my bird on the road to recovery in no time. squiggin
It might be a bit far but I took my hen to the gatehouse vets in baldock (right near tesco) and jennifer the vet there was fantastic with her

beverley
i saw a really nice vet in welwyn garden city who thinks she has a respiratory infection, she is now on antibiotics, and already seems to have picked up,which i think has bought her temperature down she is eating more, and seems more interested in things. she still will suddenly lie down on her side (which doesn't sound good i know,) but not as much. heres hoping. olive
