seanog
I bought a cockerel and put him in the eglu cube with my 4 rir chickens. The chickens are now crowing and squaking loudly while he stays in the eglu cube in the nest box and only comes out if make him. When he is out he goes back in nearly straight away. What is wrong. tom123
OK. Let the girls out to FR and pop the cockerel in the run (with the door shut) and chuck some corn down along the edge of the run, leave them like this for a couple of hours. If you have a netted free range area then let the cockerel out with them and all should be OK and he should show them who's boss. The netting is useful in case he wont go in later on and you can herd him in without the risk of him escaping. If you don't have netting then I think I would just shut them all in together and let him establish himself in the flock. Egluntyne
How old is the cockerel? If he is only a youngster, the hens will push him around.
