markm
My border sussex (approx 20 weeks old) has started to lay funny shelled eggs (see photos). She has a mixed diet, layer pellets, grass / greens, FR, mixed corn, sweetcorn (only as a treat). The eggs are fine, the shells are nornal thickness but I can only describe them as being similar to creased paper. Am I doing something wrong? The top 2 in the photo are the strange ones, the bottom 2 are from another hen. Edited July 29, 2010 by Guest
chickencam
This is not uncommon and I should think that they will settle down over time to look much more smooth, they sometimes have the odd blip when they are starting out.
littlehenny
I agree, it's just a blip. We once had an egg where the shell was so rippled it didn't look real - it looked more like a sculpture - my children took it into school to show to their class because it was so completely weird looking. It was the only one we have ever had like that though
