JB09
Hi all, The chicks are a week old tomorrow and growing at an alarming rate! I have ended up with three chicks out of the five eggs from eBay, not bad for a first attempt! One even hatched in the car on my way to our place on the coast! Just a quick question, it is ok to be giving treats to their Mum Betsy as the chicks are all tucking in! Is there anything apart from the usuals that chicks inparticular should not have! They all have very healhy appetites and are learning so much from their mum Thanks guys JB
sjp
my lot started having treats from about 2/3 weeks old thats when they started FR and I switched them to garvo alfa chick you'll find that the mom will give most of the best treats to the chicks first then she'll eat a bit herself. my broody is still doing that now, her brood is 5 weeks old and more than capable of finding food for themselves they've already lernt to scrump apples by watching the big girls doing it.
