FruitandNutCake
All hens are different, and all usually take a bit of time to get their egg laying settled, so it is very normal for egg laying to be a bit erratic to start with. Also, don't be surprised if you get soft eggs, or extra large double yoked eggs to start with - it all settles down with time. However, even once they are settled, there are the occasional 'blips' and they may have rest periods from laying, especially when moulting. Or, as in my case ( and several others at the moment!) they may go for an extended time without laying - probably due to weather conditions! Don't worry - if they are point of lay they will be laying regularly sooner or later!
