Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

ive done many intros but not with ex batts - Ive had the girls for just over a month now and I was planning on putting the 3 ex batts into the cube tonight and let it take its own course in the morning (popping my head in from time to time to check that alls ok) dose that sound ok??

 

ps they are in the eglu and run thats in the big WIR with the other girls from the day dot.

Have they been out and about together at all yet?

 

If they have and they interact ok then your plan sounds like a plan as long as you are on hand to break up any argy bargy that may occur.

 

If they haven't then personally I would start letting them out in the WIR or garden preferably so that they can get used to each other without the mesh but also have plenty of space to escape to if need be. Of course this should be supervised.

 

Do this for shortish periods of time and build it up until they are all happy.

 

Depending on the state of your batty girls they may be fine but remember they may still be weaker than your big girls to slow and sensible is the key.

the new girls are quiet well feathered - they were when I got them - their combs are almost as red as the should be. - I might let them roam the garden for a lil bit today while i clean the run and cube out....

Hello - I let the girls out to play and free range, there was a few squabbles and they are still going, Ive left them to it for ten mins as its started to rain but they are all in the WIR....

 

time will tell eh??
