Excessive Blood In Eggs

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I would love some advice....

I have a very happy Aylesbury who is now 18 months old. We have recently collected two consecutive eggs (collected a few hours after they were laid) to find that they are full of blood - not just a small veining or spot, but almost completely dark red/black.

She lives with a male mallard, who she constantly hassles for duck loving - although his efforts seem to be mostly in vain! Surely this blood would not be formed in such a young a fertalised egg? Or is it? Are there any other conditions that can cause this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bec.
