Blue-DiamondChick07
Who has them? Been offered a trio. From what Ive read so far they sound good, but would like to hear from folk who have them
alij
Hi They are great little birds with a very 'big' attitude. I have a silkie pair and 9, 6 week olds in the brooder. The cockeral's crow doesn't sound like a chicken at all, but some are quite loud so it's hard to judge how loud your boy will be. This is my Napoleon and Josephine I would definitely say yes to the trio if I were you...you won't regret it. Ali
Blue-DiamondChick07
Awww what lovely birds! Thanks for posting those Ive been informed that the cockerel is quiet, so better be I'll continue my research, but as I have a spare coop, its more tempting
alij
Well with a spare coop it would be rude to refuse and they are such tiny little things it's not really like having more chickens anyway...... Let me know what you decide and what colour they are. Ali
Redwing
They are nice little birds, like Polands some strains arent terribly hardy in winter though Bear in mind that while your existing cockerel and the Serama cockerel are both pretty quiet once they are in close proximity they will compete so there will be more noise
alij
Redwing is right, they are not very hardy in the cold and damp weather. Mine go into a large hutch inside my main WIR for the winter, my Japs will also be doing this, this year

Blue-DiamondChick07
can't they live indoors? Maybe they could sleep indoors when its cold or something?
alij
Yes they can live indoors and lots of breeders keep them inside permanently. Something around the size of a large indoor rabbit hutch is ideal for a trio. In Malaysia they are kept more as a pet on a par with the way we keep cats and dogs. There is a great British Serama forum which I have learnt loads from. Ali
Blue-DiamondChick07
Do you have the link for the forum? Think it may be one I joined, but you never know
alij
If you have already joined a forum it probably already is this one This is the link for it http://www.seramaforum.com/ if I've done it right. My birds came from Carrie Wright who has some lovely birds.
