cellarboy
I have had three ex-bats for about four weeks now and they have settled in very quickly. They are all laying almost every day, get let out of their run to free range every evening (after I return from work) until putting themselves to bed at dusk... and they all appear to be happy little bunnies... However, I have one (Myrtle) who insists on making one hell of a racket each morning before being let out of the roost box into the run... sometimes as early as 6.30am! She is also the most vocal during & after laying, where the others seem to do this in relative silence... As I live in a terrace house, I worry about the neighbours getting fed up and complaining. I have covered the coop window with some tarpaulin to keep it relatively dark until I let them out at about 7.30-8am, but this doesn't seem to have made much difference. Any ideas welcome? migsy
If the coup is in or attached to a fox proof run you could leave the coup door open so they can get out themselves in the morning. I never shut mine, although I might do on the coldest of winter days.
