WatsonFrizzler
Hi, we have 6 polish bantams that happily free range all day. However one of the girls has a problem with her eyes. usually first thing in the morning she will not be able to open her eyes as they are crusty and stuck together, we have to gently force them open and she will then be fine usually until the following morning. We have been to the vets with her twice and the drops and cream that the vet has given us only seem to be a temporary fix. Her breathing seems fine and she still lays and seems in good health. This probably started in the early spring. The bedding and water is changed regularly and there are no signs of mites. The rest of the girls are all ok. We are returning her to the vets, but i have a feeling the vet will just send me off with yet another course of drops or cream. I have also read that polish bantams can have more eye related problems due to the big head feathers. We have even tried tying her head feathers up with a hair band. (very amusing!) we are not really sure what to try next?
Space Chick
I would try bathing with a cotton wool ball soaked in cold (black) tea.
