Coop light problems!

I think I've gone a bit chicken mad lately. I check this forum everyday and go mushy when looking at other people's photos of chickens. I already had my first question answered in the FAQ- whether it's alright to have 4 in an eglu so that gets a big tick

 

However before getting two new girls I really want Maj to be completely healthy. She seems to be perking up and I'm sure some new feathers are growing on her bum so I have my hopes up. But she still isn't laying.. Hm.

 

Anyway I just wanted to ask whether anyone found having 4 chooks more time consuming than 2? I'm due to start quite a stressful job in October so I think I'll wait until I have settled into that to see if I am still as chicken crazy as I am now.

The good news is we have found a vet more locally who is happy to treat chickens - so no more expensive taxi rides.

 

I think I will be patient before taking the plunge but I feel more ready to do it than I did before. We now have an ark run and old hedgehog house which is being used to house Maj at the moment but in the future for introductions it would be perfect. Just wanted to share

4 isn't any more time consuming than 2 so you don't have to worry there.

 

 

I have to admit that 42 is more time consuming than 7 so don't get too addicted.

Now they are integrated, having 6 isn't more time-consuming than 3, except I have an additional Eglu to clean out until I can get them all to sleep in the cube....

It was the realisation that it would be just as easy to look after three (or four, or five ) that made me get more hens after the first two! It really isn't any more work, although it does mean double the amount of poo.

thanks guys this is what i was hoping you'd all say! i think it's now just a waiting game for poor maj to regain her confidence (and bum feathers) before unleashing two newbies
