Eggstatic!
Just wondering if anyone can tell me the average age that chickens live to? Is it different for hybrids, pure breeds and bantams?
Daphne
As a very general rule hybrids seem to be shorter lived than pure breeds. Received wisdom seems to be that hybrids live to around 3-4 years and pure breeds 5-7 years. It makes no difference if they are bantams. And these are very very rough approximations - most of us have lost birds at much younger ages to various ailments, which means in reality the average age is quite a bit younger.
