Some people!!!!!

Recommended Posts

As someone said earlier, I think the best thing is to just laugh it off and ignore it. Often people won't realise they're being insensitive, sometimes because they're genuinely moronic, but often just because when confronted with something a little out of the ordinary (ie a chicken), the human brain reacts strangely.

The truth about life in general is that other people will say and do annoying things, all the time. I decided a while ago that it was impossible to change everyone else, so I would just try and change myself so that I didn't let it bother me. It works most of the time. :)

Anyway - I very much hope your hens are ok.

oooh.... vet in Chester area who is good with chooks? Yes please, pm me the details! I take mine to a vet in Frodsham who I haven't got a problem with, and my chooks have had fair care, but they aren't well versed by any means, a very cat and dog based practise. Not to mention being somewhat high on the price scale....

Not many of my friends share my opinion that chickens are cute and intelligent pets... most of them have not made any inflamatory comments like the usual complaints, but they also just don't see the attraction. Hence my addiction to poultry forum'ming!! My mum is a refreshing change though, she is actually scared to death of any other birds, and was of my chooks until we hatched out this year. She loved the chicks and instantly bonded, and has already said that she actually thinks it is cruel to cull boy chickens as you don't go round culling boy puppies and kittens! She thinks there should be some way of neutering cockerels so that they can live together. She also has made it very clear that as my chicken numbers have increased, she fully expects me to budget in increasing vet fees :) might be a useful ally against the OH if anything did crop up... he thinks a shot of baytril is ok but anything more and he starts mentioning the "w" word
