White markings on the shell

Recommended Posts

Hi - my first post - please be gentle with me

One of my chicks has laid a few eggs with white round speckledy lumps/markings on them, and I'm a bit concerned.

They are like tiny white sand speckled in groups, they do come off if you give it a good scrub, but am concerned they may be tiny worms or something yucky

The chicks came fully vaccinated so think they should be ok, but any clues as to what it could be would be appreciated.

Thanks :D

Thanks for replying! Yes, I'd seen that posting earlier - I did a search before I was brave enough to post! I know it's not from bedding as we just use newspaper not sawdust, but I did think it may be calcium deposits. Just wanted to see if there were any other theories out there and to check I wasn't being a negligent chicky-mummy

They are still less than a year, but not completely sure how old. We've had them since Christmas and they started laying around Valentines day which was very kind of them! They even laid some chocolate eggs at Easter for the children :D
