Old Speckled Hen
I have one moulting now. I let them out of the run this morning and you'd have thought there were enough feathers on the ground for ten chickens, yet strangely she still looks fluffy and feathery. I hope she feathers up before it gets too cold Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
alet_chicken
Yes, it's amazing how many moulting feathers one little hen can produce. I have one white leghorn who is moulting at the moment. Last week it looked like it snowed in the run! (and the Cube, and the nestbox!) Poor thing, she's been going to bed pretty early in the rotten weather we've had the last couple of days. lillybettybabs
Two moulting here, have covered the run with clear tarpaulin so they stay dry, They do look a little scruffy.
tracker57
I think 1 of ours is moulting, she has a bare neck and I don't think its due to bullying because she is the boss Pretty scary to see for the 1st time though...had to check on here about it.
