Tamysha
This is probably going to sound like a really stupid question, but I will be a complete beginner to chicken keeping when I finally get my hens, but I've looked in all the books etc. and none of them answer this question! Do I put the food and water in the hen house with the hens at night or don't they need food and water overnight? Please someone humour me and give me a reply! chicken bark
Only keep the food and water in the run. They don't need water or food in the coop. In the winter feed them some mixed corn in the afternoon (just a bit) that will keep them warm and fed over the long winter nights.
Chucky Mama
Not a silly question at all As said, they don't need anything overnight.

Tamysha
Thank you for your replies. Now I know! Why don't they put such basic things in the books? Maybe all the novice chicken keepers should get together and write a book - questions novice chicken keepers ask! - and the answers of course!
