Doody
Hi all, Had our 3 chickens now for 4 months now and all is well. However with these dark nights approaching fast, what is the best way to lock your chickens up. Ill explain, i have a chicken coop, and while im not in they are locked inside it. It has a run, with steps that go up it into a wooden nesting box and inside area. The coop itself is completely closed, but there is a door inside which allows them to go in and out of the nesting box, im sure you know what i mean. With it being dark at 7pm till 7am now, do you think its safe to leave the hatch door open, as long as the whole coop is closed. I dont believe anything could get it, as its very well protected and would take one strong fox to lift or get in it. I havent seen a fox in our garden or around since we have had them, no signs either. I dont know what im going to do when it gets dark at 4pm till 7am, as i dont want them closed in all the time, would much rather let them get up and goto bed at there own time. Any advice would be appreciated!
Egluntyne
I never close the doors on my Eglus or cubes, even in the depths of winter, and the hens have been fine.
