gingerlily03
Hi . Was just wondering if anyone else out there has come across this?? Have had Delia at the vet (a chicken breeder and chicken show judge no less!!) and she has a pendulous crop, have tried 2 lots of antibiotics but it appears that the crop muscle has somehow been stretched. The vet has given her a bra which is a sort of bandage to support the crop but has said the only other option is an expensive operation and i don't really want to put her under the anaesthetic anyway. Can anyone offer any help or advice?? Greatly appreciated.
Christian
Pendulous crop can occur in some hens, and it exactly how you have described it. The crop muscles are weaken and slacken, and the food is often not able to reach the stomach. I'm not sure how you would treat it without an operation tbh. Maybe feeding pellet porridge would be easier to her to digest? Good luck!
