Pembrokeshire

Recommended Posts

OH and I have just got back from a week's break in Pembrokeshire. We booked very last minute..and plumped for Pembrokeshire because the weather forecast was better than Andalucia !!..Well it was absolutely fabulous...but I knew it would be when we neared our holiday cottage between St David's and Solva, and passed a small paddock containing four gorgeous alpaca ...The weather was absolutely wonderful and the scenery breathtaking...if you haven't already visited then put it on your wish list. Got myself a new titfer at Melin Tregwynt mill...soooo pretty.(the Mill not me in the hat!!) ..had lovely meals out, saw seal pups on the beach, herons, kittewakes, buzzards and falcons, ...We took wet weather gear and booked a cottage with a log burner (just in case we ended up spending more time indoors than out!!!). The weather was so good though that I didn't even quite finish September's book club choice (still some chapters to go I'm afraid!)

It was such a lovely relaxing break, especially after a very difficult and emotionally charged few weeks (very sadly my Dad lost his fight against his cancer last month)...as you can probably tell...I really can't recommend it enough and I am very very envious of any lucky omleteers who live in the area!!!!

My parents first took me and my little sister on holiday to Solva when we were tiny tots and we have been back almost every year since, we even still take family holidays from time to time as we know we will all enjoy it! We've been self catering in Nolton Haven, Druidstone, Broad and Little Haven and all around St Brides Bay, plus a stay once nearer Fishguard and once or twice further down near Tenby. The area near Druidstone and the Havens is by far the most picturesque and the coastal path is just amazing., and our favourite all time beach is Marloes Sands as there are lots of rock pools and private little corners for sunbathing in.

So glad you enjoyed your holidays too, if you go back then (you may have anyway) but a trip on a boat round Skomer to see the birds is wonderful and we saw seals and whales too. Manx shearwaters - I love them!

Hurrah for Pembrokeshire and when I win the lotto, I'll be moving there!!
