Does anyone have an automatic pop hole door on their Cube

Recommended Posts

I keep reading about those automatic doors that open the coops at sunrise and sunset and wondered if I could use one for the Cube and if so do they really work? At the moment we leave the door open at night as they are up early in the mornings, but as it's getting quite chilly at night now I think they might be better off with the door shut :)

Hi Mercedes

That link goes to one of my posts :-). I found flights of fancy the cheapest to get it from, as we built a walk in run. It was easy to fit and im so glad we got it, it is good to have the knowledge they are locked away and nice and snug and then in the morning they can come out as soon as it gets light.

If you can, I would definitely recommend one.

Good luck :D

Hi beach chick I think it was around £100 but worth it for all those lies in we get and the knowledge the girls are in.

It has a light sensor and you can change the sensitivity of it, so I have mine set so that it closes when it is pitch black, this let's the girls have time to get in and to bed. Then as soon as the sun comes up it opens up and the girls can come out for a feed. At first a few of the girls got locked out but it didn't phase them and I changed the setting and it's been fine.

I know you can also get a timer so that u can set when it opens and closes but to be honest if your happy the girls gettin up when it gets light, you don't need it or you have to keep changing it as the seasons change.

Hi, I put an automatic pop hole door on my new WIR yesterday; there's a picture in this thread. Mine will open on a timer (it solves an early-morning-noise problem for us) but will close at sundown. (Actually it closes on a timer as a stop-gap measure, once I have time to adjust the light sensitivity so it doesn't close too early I will set it to close at sundown too.)

It's a bit expensive, about £100 for the opener and £40-50 for the timer, but it's well made and I've only ever heard great things about it.
