madchickenlady
None of my girls are currently laying , and I've noticed that they're eating less. However, I've also noticed that they're eating less grit. I used to get them oyster shell, but have been unable to get it for a while so switched to poultry grit. I haven't had to top up the hopper for ages, which is odd as with the oyster shell I'd have to refill it twice a week They do free range daily, so I suppose they could be picking up grit from around the garden Do they require less calcium/grit when not in lay? Egluntyne
They aren't excreting anything like as much calcium when they are off lay, and so can store a bit in reserve for when they start again.
