Help needed with fighting bantams

Recommended Posts

I have three bantams in an (pink eglu) eglu, my black pekin "bella" has been broody for the last few days so i have put her in the garage in a dog crate, let her out today to see if she has snapped out of it, put her in the garden with the other two, to free range and she and my little frizzle have got stuck into each other and will not stop fighting, had to part them with a broom, there has never been any problems before when i have done this. and i can put either of them with the third bantam with no problems, so at the moment have put bella and the third bantam in the eglu and have shut the frizzle out-side, but what do i do now?

If there is no blood being drawn, I would say let them all back out again, and let them get on with re-establishing their pecking order. It will have to be done at some point - and probably better out of the run, with more room, and where you can squirt with a hosepipe or something each time it gets too much?

It hopefully won't take long - but they will need to do it at somepoint. If there is blood involved, then slow intro's might be the way forward :(

I had a similar thing when one of my Pekins was hatching - though she was in the little Eglu and run inside the WIR with the others, as soon as they were all back in together, all hell broke loose.

It's upsetting and stressful to watch :( , but they need to go through it to sort things out between themselves.

I didn't intervene - as hard as it was not too - but did watch and regularly check them to make sure no one was in mortal danger.
