Having a devil of a job to track some normal down and wondered if the decorative woodchip is safe ? everyone seems to have that in stock. !!

 

Do you think the decorative stuff would be safe for the girls ? xx

yes its fine, the colouring might come off on the chooks if its wet though!

We used it on our run - think we used 3 bags as per recommended on here. We have had no problems what so ever - the only slightly frustrating thing about it is when they are scratching around they can block the Eglu door from closing - all you need to do though is reach through and give it a quick brush out and its fine!

 

I was initially worried about mites etc with the wood but had no problems - rightly or wrongly we put 3 bags down maybe 2 months ago and not needed to change it; although we are changing it this weekend for hygiene sake.

 

Its a nice alternative to allowing the chooks to rip up the grass and get all muddy!
