Hi all,

One of our 6 month old hens has just stopped laying. She shows no signs of ill health and is eating properly. The book we have suggests it may be to do with the shorter days but it was so sudden. She layed every day then just stopped and hasn't layed for a week. Her chum has carried on as normal. The book also says obesity can stop them laying, I admit she is chunky but looks normal to me. They spend the day in the garden digging so it cant be bordom or lack of exercise. Anyone any ideas?

Maybe taking time off, starting a moult or stopping for winter depending on breed

I've gone from 5/6 eggs a day to two a day this week, all down to the shorter days.
