2009 Omlet cube and run for sale

Hi

 

I have been putting the shells in the compost bin.. but someone mentioned to my husband the other day who also keeps chickens.. that they dry theirs out, pummel them down and feed back to their chookies.

 

Any tips of how to do this and is it ok to do ?

Yes it is quite ok, bake for 10 mins to dry out and kill any nasties. Don't do it much longer 'cos it will stink!!

 

Crush 'em all up and scatter or put into feed.

We wash them and microwave for less than a min and feed them back - doesn't smell as bad

 

Make sure you wash them though otherwise the egg cooks, pops and stinks, goes all rubbery

Will give it a try later on and see how get along. I think its a great idea being able to recycle the eggs.

I think its a lot easier and smellier than baking them

I cannot stand the smell of over cooked egg shells
