quickcluck
I came home yesterday to find Maisie with no tail feathers She looks even more terrible now as she is bald due to being broody for most of the year I think the culprit is Sweetie - not! But she already has a bumper bit on...... Is there anything I can do? I dont think Maisie is her her only victim. I think I read somewhere that it can be caused by a lack of protein... does that sound familiar to anyone? If so shall I just bump it up with fish and stuff? Thanks Kay
Snowy
If they have disappeared suddenly, could she be moulting? Extra protein will certainly help her to refeather though. Tinned tuna, rinsed to remove any salt, is popular.
Space Chick
Mealworms are another great source of protein as are unmedicated chick crumbs. I have a few girls who have just started moults and a few who have just emerged the other side of a moult. In fact I have never seen Leela look more beautiful than she does now with her nice new feathers
