chris_21 Posted November 22, 2010 Share Posted November 22, 2010 hi has anyone been to the fur and feather auction in melton mowbray only asking as i was planning on going this tuesday to get some hatching eggs and maybe some new chickens. is there anything to look out for as i know some poultry auctions as a bad reputation. Avoid any that look snotty or sneezy, have dirty bottoms and look unkempt or miserable. Try not to feel sorry for any that don't measure up or you'll end up buying them and you will run the risk of introducing illness into your flock. I have heard of a rabbit being sold pregnant then the new owners found out it was a very large tumor and the rabbit had to be pts. I think if you are cautious you could get some bargins.
