signitsah
I wonder if someone could help with advice about my sick chicken, please. She's a pekin bantam, about 16 weeks old; we have 5 others of a similar age who are all fine. For the last week she's been very poorly - she constantly shakes her head, is very, very sleepy and has no appetite. We had already wormed them with Flubenvet and given them Frontline against mites but have now re-dosed this one. However, a week later and she's still no better. We keep trying to tempt her to eat with moistened pellets, grated apple, grapes etc. but she takes very little and doesn't want to drink at all. This morning she did one runny poo and one completely normal but she's just getting weaker and weaker. Would be grateful for any suggestions, please! sage
Sorry if this sounds a bit hard but if she has been ill for a week you should have taken her to the vets. Please make an appointment ASAP. Hope she gets better Sage
signitsah
Thank you, Sage. This forum was my last hope before I did that. If anyone has any idea what is wrong with her I'd be hugely grateful.
Egluntyne
I agree ... she sounds as if she needs to see a vet.
Chucky Mama
Regardless of what she has, in order to try and give her a chance she will need veterinary attention/medication. DIY treatment at home is not going to work.
sage
Did you managed to get her to a vet? Sage
signitsah
Yes, thank you, we took her yesterday morning. He gave her an antibiotic and said to continue keeping her warm and encouraging her to eat and drink. She did seem to rally for a bit yesterday but is not well today.
