StephenW
Please help me as I am trying to decide which of my pure breed hens would be good to show. You will notice that there is an araucana rooster and the other araucana seems to have brown amoung grey feathers something to do with pigment in feathers. http://s914.photobucket.com/albums/ac342/losers1993/ Thanks for your help
Redwing
Its quite hard as the pics are small 1) Not sure what breed that is, the colour makes it look like a buff sussex but the shape isnt right - is it still young? 2)Very nice ground colour but the lacing doesnt look very good 3) this isnt suitable for showing its a cross colour Araucana by the looks of it maybe a cross between a brown/red and lavender araucanas, it also looks possibly male 4) very nice - I would show this one
StephenW
AWW thats a shame. Sorry that is a buff sussex. Is the light sussex ok for showing then? Steve
Redwing
I dont know a lot about the Sussex breed but the light Sussex looks nice to me although I cant see her comb - is it a normal single pright comb? she is better in the tail and cape than some I have seen shown and she wouldnt discrace you I am sure, I'd certainly give it a go provding she doesnt have clipped wings or any obvious problems like big splashes of black on the side we cant see! The Buff is rather 'light' looking in build, if she is young give her some more time, if she is an adult she possibly isnt show-worthy but the only way to tell is to try As long as the birds are clean and dont have lice then no one will laugh you out of the show room honestly Mostin breeds buff Sussex so she may be able to give a better opinon Re the Araucanas - I would get someone local and experienced to take a look at them both for you, they ARE really hard to sex and we are just going by photos on here
