Releasing of the Guineas New Method!!!

Recommended Posts

3 wks ago my OH acquired a couple of guinea fowl, but they are now starting to make me feel really guilty :anxious::oops: about not letting them out to FR when I let the hens out.

I am going to try and let the female out with the hens and keep him indoors :anxious: , as the info I have read on the net suggests that hate to be alone, so in theory I should be able to get her back in the hen house with the hens  . As the hens come when called for bed (sometimes  ).

Does anyone think my hair brained scheme will work?

My OH said it wouldn't be fair to just let one out  , so out they both came  .

OMG what a racket  . I knew how noisy they could be, but they were both squawking at anything that moved, pigeon, leaf, robin, crow, people taking their dog for a walk.

My other two girls walked off in disgust at the noise :lol: .

After a bit of exploring and lots of squawking they tried a few perching spots and some of the plants  and some bird seed.

Now to get them back in  . I called my girls, mealworms in hand, and the female guinea must've thought "Ooooh, I'll have some of that" so down she flew (him following close behind). I had to use the Hansel and Gretel technique with the mealworms all the way back to the run  , but hey it worked :dance: Where one of them goes the other follows, it's like they're attached with string :lol: .

All that happened in 40mins, my girls weren't too pleased at having their playtime cut short  but I will increase it tomorrow. Hopefully it will work again :anxious::pray: .
