Help please! Can't get my Eglu Classic secure again!

Recommended Posts

Hi

I bought my 2nd hand eglu classic (mk 2) on here and we have had 2 lovely hens living in it since last October. Now I clean them out every week by taking the coloured lid off to access inside the Eglu (we have a green one :) ). I have just cleaned out the girls and I am having difficulties getting the lid back on and I wondered if anyone could please offer me some help (I need to do the school run at 2.55 and then it's straight onto swimming lesson!).

I have placed the green lid back on the grey base as usual and slid the black metal bit through as normal. I have also put the pin thing with the circle on in on the other side.

However I have noticed that I can still lift the back of the green lid up a good 5cm or so. This can't be safe for my hens :( I have never noticed this before. Please please can anyone help me work out what I have done wrong? What normally stops the lid at the back lifting up? I must be having a 'thick day' but now I am all of a panic because I can't get my ladies home safe before I have to go out :(

Thanks in advance...

Becky.

Thanks Egluntyne - That does reassure me somewhat. The run is bolted on and already weighed down with huge lumps of Cotswold stone so all covered on those counts. It's just I have heard of chickens being lost through the droppings tray when not secured in properly and yet this seems like a much bigger opening just by pulling the lid up at the back. I will get my Mr to have a look when he gets home. All has been ok whilst I have been out :anxious:

Cheers, Becky x
