peebles
Hi there, we've had a small outbreak of scaley leg on one chicken. We've been treating them all so it's under control, I think all the mites will be dead and suffocated by now. Thinking that this query is unrelated to the scaley leg, hoping you lovely chicken people can help shed some light on that! Noticed Ginge has a sort of reddy bulbousy lump on his foot. It looked the same sort of reddy skin that forms the comb and wattles, perhaps a bit smoother. Today it was wet and I could see it through his sodden feathers. With the quills dampened, I can see some red protruding into the quill stem. Are they blood feathers? He's lost a few feathers but none of them have had a full moult. peebles
Just noticed while uploading the photo, there's a small red lump away from the main blob. Is this an inflammatory disease? Or an infection? Any input appreciated
Griffin
Tiger Lily my Silkie developed scaley leg last year while broody. She always moults after her chicks have hatched and when her leg feathers grew back her legs were very sore, just like in that photo. She did have a small lump on one leg which I squeezed and emptied of pus I bathed it then purple sprayed it and she was fine.
