Dolly
For the last couple of months, Roxy has laid longer and longer eggs, which are very rough on one half. It's now impossible to close an egg box lid on them. She has been in good health until a couple of days ago, when she laid a thin shelled egg, followed by soft egg which had to be removed by the vet today (the shell wouldn't come out ). Are the two problems connected do you think and if so, is there anything I can do to help make her eggs smoother, and hopefully easier for her to lay? Many thanks
Gertie
I've really noticed that Lifeguard tonic makes a difference to shell quality & strengh of my older hens eggs. I also give oyster shell. I don't know anything about long eggs - maybe it's elongating due to softer shells or weakening muscles. I'm sure someone knowledgeable will be along soon.
