samfiddle
Any advice welcome please My Mrs Pepperpot has gone bald on her belly area, everywhere else seems ok. It looked as if she was pulling them out or scratching there. Can't see any lice but did see some white/cream dots on feathers near skin. Looked a bit like dandruff but bigger. Eating well, foraging well. laying well. I have put powder on her recently but covered her again yesterday. Someone told me to hold her upside down and cover her under wings etc, is this cruel? I had her from Omlet 7 weeks ago, not sure how old she is but had large comb and laying when she arrived Thank you
sari
She probabaly does have lice...one of mine appeared to go bald overnight, and I didn't see any lice at first, but covered her in DE anyway, 2 days later, when dosing again, saw enough to make me feel icky. have n=bought some spray now...as the DE doesn't seem to be workign quickly enough... gongladosh
I'm guessing at lice too! I'd give her a good dosing any which way (as long as she's not in distress while you do it - she's guaranteed not to be impressed however). I'd give the eglu a good spraying too. samfiddle
Thanks guys I ve covered them in DE so will see how it gos. What spray did you use? I'm worming them for the first time too, only had Vermix at my local shop. It's a herbel treatment so i hope it works as it cost £15! There is certainly a lot to learn re keeping chickens!
