St Mawes Cornwall

Recommended Posts

Dear Omleteers that know everything! We have booked a 6 day classic sailing trip from St Mawes, Cornwall to the Scilly Isles for my hubby's 50th in the summer.

Do we take the train or the car? They suggest you can park in the main car park in St Mawes all week whilst away - does anyone know the area - would it be safe to park in this car park for a whole week (and would it have room if we arrived midday?

The alternative is the train - that would be 3 trains, plus a ferry across from Falmouth, 6 hours and £140 (but petrol would cost as well as parking for a week).

Anyone know the area and can advise what might be best?

Thanks,

Tracy

:D We had a lovely short break in St. Mawes and the car park is big, I think it would be fine at midday even in high season. I would describe it as a safe place to park, the tourist info building is within it, and people are only arriving there to enjoy the place. We didn't see any loiterers or trouble, it's a very small town, out of the way, and there is a pleasant atmosphere.

Allow a bit of extra time for the last few miles, the journey is slower once you've left the main roads.

I don't know how far away you are, or the price of parking, but there is a decent car park and it sounds less complicated than via Falmouth.

What a fabulous way of celebrating, it'll be great.
