FuturistFi
I have 5 Dorkings of about 10/11 months old. One has developed a sore, swollen eye this morning. The lower eyelid is sagging down and the area around the eye - rather than the eye itself - is red and swollen. It's obviously irritating her as she keeps wiping the eye against her neck feathers and I suspect the sagging lower eyelid is a consequence of the constant wiping. The eye itself is bright and clear. I have bathed the eye in clean (very slightly salted) water. I wonder if I should see a vet now or wait, of is there anything else I can do for her to make it more comfortable? Grateful thanks in advance.
Egluntyne
Cold tea is very soothing and slightly antiseptic. Can you check to see whether she has a foreign body in the eye? Wrap her in a towel so that she can't flap.
FuturistFi
Thank you Egluntyne I'll try the tea. She was very calm and let me bathe it in water, so I suspect the she'll do the same with a tea bath. I did look in her eye, but couldn't see anything. Although, she has stopped rubbing it since it was bathed, so hopefully that's a good sign. She seems OK in herself - eating and drinking, but perhaps a bit subdued. I'm keeping a close eye on her. Thanks again. I'll let you know how I get on with the tea.
FuturistFi
Meant to reply that the tea worked a treat. All better now. Molly Maud Megan Maria Milly
