Is flowering currant edible?

Recommended Posts

I couldn't find a mention of it in any of my numerous rabbit books, and there didn't seem to be too much information on the web. I found this, which says that they don't really like it, :? but there are other websites that say that their flowering currant plant was destroyed by wild rabbits. As we can't find any better information, I'd stay clear if it if I were you. Sorry I can't give you a better answer. My bunnies are due for their myxi jabs in a couple of weeks, so I'll ask the vet then :) .

Hi there,

My bunny, Rufus, absolutely loves eating flowering currant leaves and he's in tip top health. I only let him have a few at a time, but I read somewhere that they can eat ordinary currant leaves so I assumed flowering currant would be ok too as they are both of the genus Ribes.

Just my experience though, not gospel!
