debbie9946
Any advice appreciated. I noticed Rosie was off her food yesterday checked her crop (Non squishy just empty) gave her some medicine just in case. Just let them out this morning and Rosies tummy is swollen and quite warm. Rosie is a non layer but occasionally lays a softie. Not quite sure what to do to be honest. Any advice as to what it could be?
percy049
Might be an impacted crop on an infection (hence the heat). try to make sure she has plenty to drink, and i would take her to the vets if it carries on after a few days with no improvement
Chucky Mama
If her abdomen in swollen, tight or fluid filled, she may have peritonitis (or a tumour) . I am afraid she really needs to see a vet.
lovebugette
Yes, sounds like peritonitis. Nothing else for it other than a vet visit and hope they are a helpful vet. I posted on a previous page "Peritonitis/swollen crop - how I saved my hen" - she was so thin and poorly but we got her back despite not eating for nearly a week (except a few meagre mealworms and tiny pieces of grape). The meds are listed in case you need to know, but a word of warning - it may come back again. My hen had her hormone implant yesterday to hopefully stop this recurring. Might have to bite the bullet and enquire about one yourself if you can justify the cost. Good luck xx
