Andrls
We've only had our chickens for just over a week but they go mad for earth worms. My boys go and dig up loads of worms and make a mud pies with compacted soil and all the worms which they turn out in the run. The chicken then all peck and scratch away at the pile of mud until they've got all the worms. It's great fun to watch....but...between the 6 chickens just today they must have had 30-40 odd huge earth worms (talking upto 6 inches long). How many worms is too many for the chickens? Should I put a stop to the fun? Also, can the chickens eating lots of earth worms encourage more parasite worms in the chickens? Should I worm them after the earth worm fest they've had over the last few days? Thanks!
Egluntyne
Too many might give them the squitts, and will be partly the cause of them getting intestinal worms, as they act as intermediate hosts for the eggs of certain species, so it would be a good idea to worm them with Flubenvet every now and then.
