Brown yolk?!

Recommended Posts

Hello :)

I just cracked open a week old double yolker, one of the yolks was fine and yellow, but the other was dark and brown and looked like a brain :vom: It put me off my dinner! Is this a 'meat' spot? If so, what causes them? Thanks

It was about half the size of a normal yolk, beige, meat/brain texture. I thought lash (i sounded really clever diagnosing it to everyone ;) ) but then went to FAQ's and found out that lashs are laid instead of eggs. The white was normal :? Bizarre!

Were you brave enough to cut the "brain" open :vom::shock:

Right after looking at it, it's actually yellow, and yellow inside. It looked a lot worse in the pan  I'm pretty sure it is just an unformed yolk, got mixed in with the developed yolk. Great, and she laid a double yolker again today!! :( pics to follow.

It looks a lottttttt better than I remember!! Think I may have been over reacting but I'm sure it was beige in the pan  Undeveloped yolk?

ps - I used plastic cutlery and a few tissues as a chopping board :vom: Would have been cleaning the knife and chopping board all night!
