tahrag Posted April 4, 2011 Share Posted April 4, 2011 Hi Can anyone give me some advice about my four boys (Indian runners). they have survived their first winter and now with the warmer weather and longer days seem to be bursting full of testosterone. They are only a little aggressive with each other, but are quite ferocious towards me and my husband - we have bruises on feet, hands and arms. (Although it is painful, I am glad they are taking out their aggression on us rather than each other.) Obviously they would dearly like some female companions (not an option due to space limitations). Is this behaviour seasonal? If so, how long does it last? Or have they changed permanently? (If so, does anyone want two - very handsome - ducks!!) They are also hell bent on escaping from the garden - presumably in search of love? Your advice would again be much appreciated. miller30 Posted April 5, 2011 Share Posted April 5, 2011 Hi this seems to be a problem with drakes my parents had a hand reared runner drake and you couldnt go up the garden without being pecked and charged at and it flipping hurts as well it seems to be the more tame they are the more nasty they get they would probably still do it now even if you got them some ladies but with 4 drakes you would need alot of ladies i have 2 drakes and they have 7 wives and they could do with some more as they are starting to get bald heads my boys are tame and i seem to be lucky as all mine do is charge and then i stand my ground and off they go. I dont like drakes but i will keep mine until they go to the big duck pond in the sky and then i think i will keep just ladies you could try rehoming 3 and keep 1 and get him 2 wives but females can be loud goodluck and hope this helps abit leanne Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Or now they've discovered they are fully sexed boys will there be no stopping them all year for the rest of their lives? If this is seasonal behaviour I can live with it.
