can you join 2 runs of electric fence - Gate solution

Recommended Posts

title says it all really. I want to rearrange a bit and also make a gate rather than stepping over the netting... at the moment each end of the electric fence is attached to the WIR to complete the circuit, and its a right faff untying it to get in.

so I'm thinking I could have one run of electric fence from one side of the WIR and one run from the other, and where they come together would be the gate. would that work?

I sometimes use a 50m and a 25m electric fence joined together at the energiser, as there does not need to be a complete circuit for it to work this is fine. Providing your energiser is powerful enough for the length of fence you are using there shouldn't be a problem.

Gates are a nightmare with electric fences, whatever the company making them says it always seems to be a faff, mind you I think the benefits of electric fencing outweighs the disadvantages :) .
