You need to keep the wounds clean and protect them from any possibility of fly strike. If you are a beginner I think you need to seek veterinary advise or that of a local experienced poultry keeper. I would suggest a vet as it is not just a matter of managing the wounds, she may require pain relief if they are severe. Pain will be what is causing her to stand strangely. I have just read your other topic re your hen with a fractured pelvis here I think that you perhaps need to look at your set up and see if there is a way that you can prevent these injuries happening. You should also check that you are set up for hatching chicks and integrating them into the existing flock.

Thanks for your advice, I did pop into the vets today without her for some anti biotic spray.so have gently bathed her in salty warm water then applied spray and gave her a pain relief tablet.she came out twice today but is walking like a penguin but still is gobbling up food so will wait an see how she goes.

It's a funny set up we have, I work full time in a country pub and my now ex boss brought Hercules and madusa 2 years ago who went on to have Athena then Ricardo he has now left and my new boss is not a chicken lover so I have got myself attached to my little fluffy friends and have taken the role in looking after them.up until now there has never been a problem and it all boils down to cutting there garden space which is now 70sqft which is more than enough but still they got stressed which has resulted in madusa going boody and getting trampled and Athena plucking feather the the attack can you think of anything else I can do for them?
