percy049
Our chickens keep being really noisy in the mornings. Especially so this morning; Lottie (a 24week rhode rock), has been in the nest box for about 2 hours, and keeps making a horrbile cat screechy noise whenever anyone goes near the house (with the shut door). Another girl (who is the noisest anyway), keeps trying to get in the house to lay, but cant, and keeps making lottie squawk. I dont know what to do about the one in the house. We might have to re-home/put down some of them that keep being noisy. Consequently, my budgie is stuck in most of the time, as we keep having to go out and trying to shush them all. My mum keeps getting annoyed/upset, which is having an effect on me too. Im trying to keep calm with my exams coming up in a month!
percy049
We have managed to get lottie out of the house, and now Lillie (who wanted to lay), is in there. The life of keeping chickens We're going away for a night, so we're sending the chickens to a pet hotel incase they're too noisy while we're away. Sam
While mine was broody (ish) I saw the others just pushed her out the way And then 2 of them managed to squeeze into the nest box. But then again the broody is probably the lowest of the pecking order so I'm sure the others just push her out of the way. Maybe you could buy another nest box if Lottie likes to take her time. Are you sure shes not broody?
percy049
I dont think she is, she was ok when we took her out. We already have another nesting space in the garage, and in the mornings we're going to put a tray with straw in the house as a second nest box.
