Lifted broody off eggs (about 2 hours ago) to make her have a drink and some food and saw one of the eggs had a crack in it.....when I lifted it up I swear I heard cheeping....It is like a tiny crack in the egg with small hole in membrane...just checked again and it doesn't seem to be any bigger.....but heard tap when lifted to look. Is it a crack or is it about to hatch .... am I worrying over nothing ....i just can't find any pictures of when it starts. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Pikey Posted April 24, 2011 Author Share Posted April 24, 2011 I was so busy looking after a poorly chicken I forgot to make a note of when due The hole isn't any bigger but can feel movement and hear tapping and when birds started chirping so did the chick. Space Chick Posted April 24, 2011 Share Posted April 24, 2011 Put it this way... When our first chick started to hatch, you could hear tapping on the shell... This was at 7am... Went to work... Came home at 5pm, there was quite a marked hole in the shell.... We decided to stay up and watch it hatch....
