Hi

We have a cube and bought an eglu ready for some new hens. I don't know if we have lost a piece of the eglu. Is there any kind of barrier between the roosting area and the nest area or is it just one open space. My original hens will use the eglu and one is obviously wanting to lay an egg but didn't seem to like the new arrangements.

 

Can anyone help?

If you mean in the classic, then there is no partition. There is just a moulded nest and removable roosting bars.

 

They might just need a bit of time to get used to the new coop. Maybe you could make a cardboard partition?

Thanks Gertie. Yes, that is what we decided to do. It was strange because I was sure I had seen a partition but I must have just thought there should have been one. Hopefully, the girls will get used to the eglu quickly. We'll see in the next couple of days.

When one of our girls chose to roost in the nesting area, a gentle push onto the roosting bars whilst 'dozing' seemed to do the trick. Only needed to do it twice and now she's snuggled up nicely with the others every night !
