Sam
Hello.. this is my first experience with a hen being pecked. My girls never ever peck eachother, they've always lived in harmony and I've only ever seen them get pecked on the first day of them arriving (6 months ago) But today 1 escaped over the netting, so I caught her and popped her back in her run. But Kiev, head chook, kind of sunk her beak into her neck and pulled out like 6 feathers! Is that normal for feathers just to come out so easily? Hope you had a good easter. Mollie333
Hi there, I'd keep an eye on them, she didn't make the other hen bleed, did she? If it seems she is picking on her then Anti-pecking spray might be useful. But if it's just this odd occasion then i'm sure they will be fine. Sam
No she was fine after, you couldn't even tell where the feathers came from because they all seem to covered the patch. Thanks for the advice, I have my anti peck spray at the ready Thanks for the reply
AntonyMJones
Thanks for the reply from me too ... we bought our first hens yesterday and the smaller, younger of the three is being pecked at by the hen that seems to be the dominant bird. It has only been a day so we'll leave it a day or two longer before we worry too much ... it isn't nice to see though
